Where do these rates come from?
The rates come from Frankfurter, a free service that republishes the daily reference rates of the European Central Bank (ECB). The ECB sets these rates once each working day, in the afternoon, so the number you see is a daily reference rate. It does not move second by second.
That makes it good for budgeting, travel planning, checking an invoice or comparing prices. It is not the rate a bank, card company or money-transfer service will give you. Those add a margin or a fee, so you will usually receive a little less. Weekends and public holidays show the last working day's rate.
Example
If 1 USD is 0.92 EUR, then 100 USD is 92 EUR. The tool also shows the reverse rate, so you can see that 1 EUR is about 1.087 USD.
