What makes a password strong?
Length matters most. Every extra character multiplies the number of guesses an attacker needs. A random 16-character password with letters, numbers and symbols is far beyond what can be guessed today.
This tool uses your browser's secure random generator, the same source used for encryption. It leaves out look-alike characters such as O and 0 so passwords are easier to read. Use a different password for every account, and keep them in a password manager.
Example
With 16 characters and all four types ticked, you get a password like k7#Wq9!mXe2Rb$Tn. That has about 100 bits of strength, which is rated very strong.
