- Round up so everyone pays a whole number
- Works in any currency from the currency menu
How to use it
- Pick your country for sensible tip buttons.
- Enter the bill and how many people are sharing it, or switch to item by item.
- Choose a tip, and add the tax rate if you want it counted.
- Read what each person pays, and round up if you like.
How are the tip and the split worked out?
The tip is a percentage of the bill. In the US most people tip 15% to 20%, in Canada it is similar, and in the UK 10% to 12.5% is common, often already added as a service charge. Many people tip on the amount before tax, which is the default here. Untick that box to tip on the total with tax instead.
An even split divides the final total by the number of people. In item by item mode, each person pays for the items they ticked, plus their own share of the tax and tip. An item ticked for several people is shared between them equally. If nobody is ticked on an item, it is shared by everyone.
Example
A $120 bill shared by 4 people with an 18% tip adds $21.60 in tip. The total is $141.60, so each person pays $35.40.
